Behavioral Health + Wellness

Through comprehensive treatment planning and strong cross-system collaboration, we meet youth where they are and walk alongside them on their path to resilience, connection, and growth.

We provide individualized, trauma-informed mental health services to children and youth who have experienced significant life disruptions, including involvement in child welfare, probation, and other public systems of care.

Service Overview

We believe that every young person deserves safety, consistency, and the opportunity to thrive. Our approach is rooted in compassion, cultural responsiveness, and promising practices that support healing, stability, and long-term wellbeing.

Services are provided by mental health clinicians, counselors and peer support specialists who are trained in trauma-informed and restorative practices as well as other evidence-based modalities to support youth with complex needs.

Specialty Mental Health Services

FosterHope provides mental health services for youth with complex emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs in our Welcome Homes (Temporary Shelter Care Facilities), and in our Foster Care homes. Our goal is to stabilize youth in a nurturing environment while helping them develop the skills needed for successful permanency and community integration. Specialty Mental Health Services are provided based on each youth’s individual needs and may include, but are not limited to: individual and/or family therapy, psychoeducation, behavioral skill-building safety planning, crisis stabilization, psychiatric assessment and medication support, and coordination of care with schools, social workers, probation officers, and families.

Enhanced Care Management - coming soon!

Our Enhanced Care Management (ECM) services provide holistic support to youth with significant needs who intersect with the foster care or juvenile probation systems. ECM ensures that no young person navigates complex systems alone, and that none of their needs fall through the cracks despite life transitions and system involvement.

Our ECM team works closely with each youth to:

  • Coordinate physical, behavioral, and specialty healthcare services

  • Connect youth to educational, vocational, and life-skills supports

  • Facilitate communication across systems (child welfare, probation, education, healthcare, and courts)

  • Support placement stability and permanency planning

The Youth Trauma Response Team (YTRT) mitigates harm to youth who have been arrested and/or incarcerated (criminalized) by working with care teams centered around the youth’s criminal defense. YTRT meets youth where they are, providing trauma-informed support and guidance as they navigate the juvenile justice system.

The Ending Girls' Incarceration initiative is a multi-pathway entry into community-based care and healing while diminishing the carceral net. The goal is to reduce and ultimately eliminate the number of girls and gender expansive youth (GGE) incarcerated in the juvenile justice system. This public-private partnership is reimagining youth accountability by understanding healing responses to violence and its subsequent trauma.

The Creating Community Program is our hub for community-based services for youth impacted by or at risk of involvement in the juvenile legal system. Creating Community offers activities and support that promote diversion from criminalization, including pro-social activities, basic needs support, and connection to additional services.
